1 3/4"x 4' x 4' MDF Board

This alteration was completed with Vans stabilator fairings.

Step 01: Glue MDF to make plug

Builder note: .5 hrs

Step 02: Cut plug 1/16' larger then the pattern

Step 03: Match drill the locating center line holes from the template.

Step 04: Draw a line 1" up from the bottom of the plug

Sand and file to rough size for preparation for final sizing and fitting to the stabilator 

Do not file below the 1" line.

Step 05: Insert two # 12 dowel pins in locating holes drilled in Step: 03
  
Step 06: Drill ( square ) # 12 bolt holes from temple then turn over and counter sink with a 9/16" drill.
Add blue painters tape over black electrical tape.
Bolt the plug to the stabilator and match file & sand to the blue tape.

Step 07: Mark grid lines on the Plug and compare the top and bottom to the same profile. File and sand where necessary to match, then re-draw gridlines.

Note: grid lines were drawn using thin plastic strips cut in the table saw.
Step 08: Cut parallel a piece of plywood and draw a line in exact center ( + or - .002 ), then with the template drill the locating holes. Install the plug using the two #12 pins installed in step 05. This will allow you to slide the plug along the rip-fence of the table saw and take readings at the 35 control points on each side.

If the readings very more then .005 from the opposite side, mark file and sand where necessary to match, then re-draw gridlines.
